Homeschool Art
Homeschool art classes are choice-based. At the beginning of class, students learn about an artist, technique, or medium. Then students create art using the medium or technique. Socializing and making friends while creating is encouraged as long as it does not disturb other students. CLASSES ARE DROP-OFF unless listed as "parent and child" or "family art class". Please contact Camille if your child has special needs that require you to attend class with your child.
Grades K-2: Students will experience a wide variety of artistic mediums in this class and will be exposed to age appropriate picture books. We practice taking turns, following directions, making art, and making friends!
Grades 3-5: Students will experience a wide variety of artistic mediums including pottery, drawing, textile arts, and mixed media in this class.
Grades 3-5 Pottery: This class consists of 1 medium, CLAY. We ask that students be able to focus on 1 medium for 8 weeks. If you child gets bored easily, has sensory issues, or needs a lot of variety, this class may not be the best fit. Taught by Tangeree Gillette
Grades 3-6 Advanced: This class is 1.5 hours and for students that like to focus intently on their work. This is a quieter class where we work on projects that require more attention to detail than in other classes. We focus on drawing, painting, textile arts, pottery, and mixed media.
Grades 3-6 Drawing: Each week we will focus on a new technique and focus on a different subject including: landscape, portraits, grid drawing, shape drawing, line drawing, and more. We will experiment a little with different materials, but we will mostly work with pencil and paper. Because we will work step-by-step, it's important that students are able to follow directions and work quietly.
Grades 6-12: Students will experience a wide variety of artistic mediums including pottery, drawing, painting, textile arts, and mixed media. We normally complete 1 project each week or every 2 weeks.
Grades 6-12 Pottery (Thursday): 1 hour long. Students will focus on the basics of handbuilding in this class: pinchpot, coil, and slab techniques will be taught as well as glazing and adding surface design. Students must be picked up promptly at 1:30 because I have to pick up my child at 1:35.
Grades 6-12 Pottery Friday: 1.5 hours long, Students will focus on the basics of handbuilding in a choice driven environment. Students can choose their projects and work with the instructor or independently. There may be opportunities to learn and practice the potter's wheel.
Classes are secular and divided into classes based on grades (K-2, 3-6, and 6-12). We will create Christmas-themed projects in November and December. If your family does not celebrate Christmas, please let us know and we'll adjust the lesson.

*We believe everyone is an artist! Neurodivergent children are welcome. Classes have a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Some children need a smaller student-to-teacher ratio than we offer. Please contact us to discuss how we can work together to find the right class for your child.
